This list below is making the rounds and I believe has truth to the message.

Who will I vote for?

  • I will vote for the most pro-life candidate, because God hates the shedding of innocent blood (Prov.6:17).
  • I will vote for the most pro-Israel candidate, because God blesses those who bless Israel and curses those who don’t (Gen.12:3).
  • I will vote for the most pro-debt reduction candidate, because the borrower is servant to the lender (Prov.22:7).
  • I will vote for the most pro-work candidate because God says if a man does not work, let him not eat (2 Thes.3:10).
  • I will vote for the most pro-marriage candidate, because God is for marriage as defined in Genesis 2:24.
  • I will vote for the candidate who most closely believes government’s purpose is to reward the good and punish the evil (Romans 13).
  • I will vote based as close as I can on God’s Word (2 Tim.3:16)
  • Whoever gets elected, God is the one who puts all men in authority (Dan. 2:21).

As that late man of God, Dr. D. James Kennedy said, “Lord, give us the leader that we need – – not the one we deserve.”

This year for the 3rd annual Thunder Over Finchville the weather cooperated just a little bit better than last year. Although it was the 2nd hotter day EVER recorded in Louisville at 106F (the all time record is 107F degrees), at least it didn’t pummel down rain like it did last year.

This year’s shoot was bigger and we had the luxury of several remote control firing systems. Last year’s improvement was a control board but this year we took it even further. It is so nice to be able to put something like this on. We had many folks who we were blessed to share it with — family friends, my son’s Scout troop, neighbors, folks from church, friends from Emmaus — and even though the weather was scorching, the pool was full of water and kids, the patio was shaded, our home was air conditioned and the food was plenty.

Below is a short video snippet of part of the intro queue — and that was just the beginning. One of our guests is a local videographer who happened to have some of his professional gear in his truck. He broke it out and captured quite a bit of footage that I hope I will be able to share here soon. Until then, enjoy my lame iPhone vid snippet.

It is my 2nd favorite holiday and I love when the patriotic comes out in all of us. It gives me hope for our nation that we might right our currently sinking ship and return it to the values and morals it was founded upon.

Throughout the day I perused Facebook to see many different postings and pictures. Below is a collection of the ones I really liked today.

Happy Independence Day America!!!

I am forever grateful for those who sacrificed their lives for this great country! Past, present and future.

While I am staunchly proud of my American citizenship, birth and home and take every opportunity to soak up all the liberties and privileges of living in this wonderful country, both sets of grandparents emigrated from Norway which gives me a unique 100% Norwegian heritage. I enjoy this lineage and family history and have been to my ancestors’ homeland a couple of times. At one point I was on a path of emigrating and moving there but that is another story for another time.

Today is a holiday in Norway — it is Norwegian Constitution Day or, as I like to say, Norway’s 4th of July. I was there during one Syttende Mai celebration many years ago and it was a wonderful event with children’s parades, lots of Norwegian flags flying, traditional outfits and costumes, and merry celebration. I wish my distant family members (some of whom I still connect with via Facebook) a very happy Syttende Mai. My heart celebrates with you.

And for those of you who are not full Norwegian, or even part Norwegian, feel free to join in anyway. It is an inclusive holiday and welcoming to others of different cultures.

the people he chose for his inheritance.”

Today marks the birthday and passing of two great American leaders. Interestingly, they also both wore signature hats that made them iconic.

Happy birthday, President Lincoln! And we miss you Tom Landry!

The Boy Scouts of America organization is 102 years old today. They are a phenomenal organization that does so much for young men, families and our country promoting skills, values, preparedness, charity, citizenship and community. I wholeheartedly support them and am very proud of my son who is a third generation Scout transitioning from a Webelos II to a local Boy Scout troop in the next few months.

I mean, how can you not respect these values:

Scout Oath
On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country;
To obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

Scout Law
A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

Scout Motto
Be Prepared

Scout Slogan
Do a good turn daily

Outdoor Code
As an American, I will do my best, to be clean in my outdoor manners, to be careful with fire, to be considerate in the outdoors, and to be conservation minded.

Happy birthday, BSA!!!!!
