NASA and other have labeled this picture of an exploded star “The Hand of God”. And while it sure is beautiful, I think that title is limiting.

Because, after all, we are talking about…..GOD. He’s the one who created all this. Although I also like that scientists, who generally have a drive to explain things and tend to dismiss faith, are referring to a God who has left so much that is unexplainable and requires faith.

The collection of data posed in these graphics is quite interesting. I am including the link to the original article/post – here.

While it is cold out, yesterday warmed up to a balmy 15F. And to tell you the truth — I could actually feel the difference. Today we are expected to hit a high of 35F…..and I will welcome it.

But the cold is not impacting our beautiful country sunsets. Below is the one I grabbed last night with my son.

Again, yes, it is THAT cold. Yesterday, we even set a low record…..although those aren’t the records I like setting.

Yesterday I posted the picture of my temp gauge showing -4F…..err, 253 Kelvin outside. Yes, it really is that cold here in Kentucky. So cold that a prison escapee turned himself in just to get out of the cold. Seems like he’d rather be IN prison than IN the cold.

You can’t make this stuff up.

I cannot believe it is so cold outside. While Kentucky did not get the snow that other parts of the country received, we are still in the midst of this polar vortex. Hey global warming clowns — whaddya think of that?!?

However, in an effort to stay positive (literally) I am going to be referring to everything in Kelvin. For example, the temp displayed below, instead of being a negative number, will merely be 253 Kelvin.

How’s that for a positive outlook?

I saw the snippet below during my cardio workout this morning. It was a news highlight of a new book by Darrin Patrick — “The Dude’s Guide to Manhood”, with a forward by Duck Dynasty men.

While I haven’t read it, he hits on some pretty good observations.

  • It’s not a personality thing, but more of a character thing.
  • A real man can be tough and tender.
  • Be a family man.
  • Be a coachable man.
  • Be a connected man. Have true friends. A friend should act like a good surgeon — he cuts, but he cuts to heal.
  • Be a fighting man — fight for character. Fight the right fight.

With the recent rescue of the 52 people down in Antartica, I thought the story was winding down. However, the newspaper image below adds a new wrinkle to it. I don’t know how true it is, but it sure is funny.

My daughter captured this panoramic using her phone.

However, I think my plain ‘ol picture is prettier.

I hope 2014 is starting off well for you.
